UK weather: Danger to life warning issued as temperatures plummet
28 November 2019, 15:07
A yellow weather warning for ice has been issued for overnight as temperatures drop to -4.
The warning is in place as temperatures plummet below freezing on Thursday night.
Roads and pavements are likely to become icy after a band of rain moves through and freezes overnight.
The ice warning is in place between 12.15am and 10am on Friday.
The Met Office has warned that icy patches on roads, pavements and cycle paths could lead to injuries from slips and falls.
It said: "An area of rain is expected to clear southwards across much of Wales, the Midlands, East Anglia and the south of northern England on Thursday evening.
"Following this surface temperatures are expected to fall away below freezing and following the rain and recent wet weather many surfaces are likely to remain wet leading to icy stretches forming where these not treated."
An area of #rain is expected to clear southwards this evening, with cold air following#Ice could then form where skies remain clear
