The Last Of Us Part II sets new Bafta Game Awards record with 13 nominations

The zombie thriller was one of the biggest video game releases of the last year.
The Last Of Us Part II has set a new record for nominations at the Bafta Game Awards, with the post-apocalypse action game nominated for 13 prizes.
The PlayStation exclusive was released last year and is the sequel to 2013’s The Last Of Us, a critically acclaimed title that is now being developed into a TV drama.
Part II has been nominated for EE Game of the Year – the only award to be voted for by the public, as well as receiving nods in the animation, artistic achievement, audio achievement, best game, music, technical achievement and game design categories.
The actors behind the game’s five central characters have each also received recognition, with Ashley Johnson and Laura Bailey nominated in the performer in a leading role category for their respective portrayals of Ellie and Abby.

While the game has three nominees in the performer in a supporting role category too; Jeffrey Pierce for his role as Tommy, Shannon Woodward, who plays Dina, and Troy Baker for his performance as Joel.
The collection of nominations breaks the record set last year by both Control and Death Stranding, which each received 11 nominations.
Another PlayStation exclusive – samurai game Ghost Of Tsushima – has 10 nominations for the annual awards, which will take place on March 25.
It too has been nominated for the EE Game of the Year, alongside Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Call Of Duty: Warzone, Hades and Valorant.

Action role-playing game Hades has eight nominations in total, while Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is up for seven awards.
There is also recognition for CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077, despite the game suffering a number of issues in the run-up to and after its launch last year.
It has four nominations, including in the artistic achievement and narrative categories.
Nominees for the best British game include the popular multiplayer party game Fall Guys, which appears alongside Dreams, F1 2020, Roki, Sackboy: A Big Adventure and The Last Campfire.
The awards ceremony will be presented by journalist and Bafta Games Committee member Elle Osili-Wood and will be streamed online, including on streaming platform Twitch for the first time.
