Question: Why is a carpenter’s pencil flat when a normal pencil is round?
Name: James, Tunbridge Wells
Qualification: Carpenter
Answer: To stop it from rolling away. They can also be used as a piece of measuring equipment as the dimensions are the same no matter where you get them from. The lead is rectangular which means it doesn’t get blunt as easily as a normal pencil when used on brick and concrete.
