Alex Salmond says Nicola Sturgeon needs to work in the interest of the Scottish people, which means blocking Brexit if she can.
During his regular phone-in on Iain Dale's show on LBC, the former leader of the SNP said he believed that Nicola Sturgeon should try and block Brexit.
"If Scotland could block Brexit, then I think Nicola Sturgeon should do that."
This comes as its revealed Nicola Sturgeon is closely following a legal challenge to try and block the referendum vote to leave the EU. Alex Salmond argues that the leader of the SNP is carrying out her democratic duty to the Scottish people, who voted strongly in favour of remaining in the EU.
"I think Nicola Sturgeon should take her instruction from the verdict of the Scottish people; she's Scottish First Minister. If you remember the Scottish people voted decisively to remain.
"Well I hope and believe and I have every confidence that Nicola Sturgeon will leave no stone unturned in pursuing the wishes of the Scottish people."
