Alex Salmond says Scotland should hold the a referendum on leaving the United Kingdom membership before Britain leaves the EU.
Talking to LBC’s Nick Ferrari he said it would be pointless to leave the EU with the rest of the UK, which it voted for on Thursday.
David Cameron said that he plans to step down in October, but will leave the formal 2-year process of leaving the EU to his successor
“It will have to be within the next two and a half years, given the prime minister's statement that he is not invoking article 50 and leaving it to his successor.”
“Your talking about two and a half years, because it will make no sense to go out the European Union and come back in.”
“The aim of Scotland would be to maintain our position within the market place and within the European Union to give certainty to companies to families, to workers and not have their lively hoods sacrificed and jeopardised by the incompetence of Westminster politicians”
