Paedophile Bishops Have Made Me Ashamed Of The Church, Priest Tells LBC

A priest told Shelagh Fogarty that paedophilia within the Catholic church has made him ashamed to be a part of it.

Daniel said he no longer tells people that he is a priest as he is embarrassed and worried about the response.

And he believes the only way to stop the slide within the church is for all the Bishops to resign and be replaced with younger people.

He told Shelagh: "I've been a priest for 20 years. I'm in a Diocese which has lost two Bishops because of paedophilia.

"Every single Bishop in this country should submit their resignation to Rome immediately.

"Because what has happened is a complete failure of leadership. if the church was a corporation, every single Bishop would have lost their job, many would be in jail and they would bring in new people to run the organisation.

"I'm a parish priest in Florida and I would never go out dressed as a priest.

"When I go home to Ireland to visit Ireland, I would never even identify myself as a priest. When people ask me on a plane what I do for a living, I tell them I'm a teacher."
