A retired police officer says the force will be "dreading the moronic people" at England's next World Cup match after an ambulance car was "all but destroyed" by fans celebrating the team's 2-0 victory over Sweden in the quarterfinals.
A retired police officer says fans "were noisy and boisterous" and mostly behaved themselves, but a few drunk "morons" are dreaded by the force when England face Croatia on Wednesday.
Norman Brennan told Kevin Maguire that a paramedics car was "all but destroyed" when half a dozen revellers damaged it by dancing on top of it.
"This is criminal damage, and not only that, that vehicle is needed by the London Ambulance Service to attend emergency calls," he said.
We're delighted with the result, but this has put a big dampener on the celebrations for us: while our officer attended a call nearby, this car was damaged in Borough High Street during the celebrations after the game - it's now off the road to be repaired. pic.twitter.com/V71kOEn4OO

"How would they feel if that vehicle was taken off the road, and god forbid one of their family was seriously ill or had a heart attack and the Ambulance Service said 'I'm sorry, if only we had that extra vehicle - we could have sent it to assist you'."
Mr Brennan also said that his colleagues in the force will be "dreading the moronic people that turn up" for England's semi-final match.
