Former Conservative MP believes the Duchess of Sussex has a “history of breaking up families” and does not see why the couple should be allowed to attend the coronation next year.

David Mellor, a former Tory MP, expressed his amazement at the news that the Sussexes are set to receive an invitation to King Charles III’s coronation.

Speaking to Matt Frei this afternoon, he said: “I am astonished that Charles is going to invite them to his coronation. What more do they have to do to show that they are way off the reservation here?’

Matt said: “If the King hadn’t invited Harry and Meghan to the coronation, surely that would just add fuel to the flames.”

“Yeah, but the fuel is on the flames”, Mr Mellor replied.

The coronation will take place on May 6 next year.

He went on to describe them as “two embittered and sad people” and claimed that Meghan has a “history of breaking up families”.

He said there were “a lot of Hollywood people” at her wedding in 2018, “some of whom she’d never met before”, adding that “the only person from her family that she invited was her mother”.

When Matt asked if he was being harsh, the former MP replied: “I don't care whether you think it’s harsh, I’m telling you what I think.”
