James's Plea For Anti-Islam Caller To See Sense
10 May 2016, 12:28 | Updated: 26 August 2016, 10:37
James O'Brien struggles to persuade caller Dan that the Islamic community in Britain is no threat to the rest of our society in this very passionate exchange.
James was discussing Sir Trevor Phillips' contention that there was "liberal self-delusion" about the impact of immigration on the UK.
Dan called up and tried to make his case for why he was concerned about the number of Muslims in the UK now.
So James challenged him to compare the Bible with the Quran.
"You read Leviticus, you read the Old Testament and then you come back to me and show me which book you think is worse," said the LBC presenter.
Dan responded: "To even suggest that it's changed, that like the Old Testmant it's no longer taken notice of...is punishable by death in some Islamic countries."
"But we're not in an Islamic country!" fired back James.
Dan had a one word response for that: "Yet...eventually it will happen."
James pointed to the example of London's new Mayor, Sadiq Khan: "He's an Islamic politician. Why can't you look at the Muslim Mayor, who's just been elected, and see him as emblematic?"
