This Mum Lost Her Baby After Three Days. Her Call Moved So Many
11 April 2017, 17:42 | Updated: 11 April 2017, 18:55
This is the full call from Elle, whose son died after just three days because of a rare medical condition. Her powerful story garnered a huge reaction from listeners and left Iain Dale wiping away a tear live on air.
Iain was talking about the case of Charlie Gard, after a High Court judge ruled that doctors could withdraw life support from the eight-month-old baby who has a rare genetic condition.
Elle called to tell her story of losing a baby last year and what it was like to ask if the damage was irreversible. When the doctors told her yes, that was her sign that taking the baby off life support was the right thing to do.

Please stick to politics Iain.
Nearly crying on the bus home isn't a good look.
P.S. all the best to that lady caller.
But it wasn't just her baby's struggles that Elle talked to Iain about.
She also shared the emotional memory of being in the hospital with her husband and their parents for their baby's last few hours.
"I guess we were trying to cram a lifetime's worth of things into an afternoon," she told Iain, who was starting to tear up himself.
@LBC @IainDaleWHTID in bits listening to caller Elle. Parew make some of the toughest decisions.

"I know in my heart the doctors would have done anything to not have to say that to me," said Elle. "But there are so many rare conditions that we don't know about.
"It was chance, it was fate.
"It was bad luck."
Elle- so brave to call and talk about your experiences. All the very best @LBC @IainDale #lbc
