David Ward was banned from standing as a Lib Dem candidate today following comments he made about Israel and terrorism.
The former MP for Bradford East revealed to LBC's political editor Theo Usherwood that he was planning to stand for the Lib Dems in the seat he lost in 2015.
The party came in for heavy criticism for the move at Prime Ministers Questions today, which led party leader Tim Farron to U-turn on the decision and ban Ward from standing.
Ward told Iain Dale on his show this afternoon that he was "stunned" and "deeply saddened" by the party's move.
He also confirmed that he was not planning to challenge the decision, but that he would also "never ever stop speaking up for the Palestinian people and criticising Israel."
