"You've just shot yourself in the foot in the biggest way possible!" It was all going so well for this caller until he made a big claim about Sadiq Khan and Jeremy Corbyn.
Alex phoned up during a debate about new Met Police Commissioner Cressida Dick to slam the Met Police for not hiring a black or ethnic minority candidate to run them.
Iain told him to be patient and said that progress was being made on ensuring diversity in the country's top jobs.
"I can't see it happening Iain," said Alex.
"But we've got the first Muslim Mayor of London, does that not tell you anything?" asked the LBC host.
"That's more to do with the popularity of Corbyn in London."
Iain cracked up at that: "You are kidding me! You have to be kidding me!
"Sadiq Khan could not have distanced himself more from Jeremy Corbyn if he tried."
Alex wasn't backing down though. "It could have been a donkey representing Labour and they would have still got elected."
