MPs reject Labour amendment on Queen's Speech calling on government to rebuild the economy

MPs have rejected a Labour amendment on the Queen's Speech that calls for the government to rebuild the economy and address climate change.
The amendment, which was tabled by Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, was voted down by parliament on Thursday with 311 votes to 293.
It had said the speech "fails to rebuild the UK economy, tackle the housing crisis, further pushes public services into crisis and contains no vision to bring this divided country back together..." and went on to call for a "green industrial revolution to boost the economy.

MPs are currently voting on a series of proposed amendments to the Queen's Speech, which details Boris Johnson's parliamentary priorities.
