UK weather LIVE: Flooding causes chaos across the north of England

Parts of northern and central England have been brought to a standstill after half the rainfall for the whole of November came down in a few hours.

Rail operator Northern has issued 'do not travel' advice for passengers using five lines on its network due to the severe floods.

Doncaster Council has warned some residents to evacuate their homes because the River Don is breaching its banks near St Oswald Church at Kirk Sandall.

Last night Christmas shoppers were trapped inside Meadowhall shopping centre in Sheffield after a months worth of rain fell in the area.
