Train driver dies after 'serious incident' at Birmingham depot

A train driver has died after a "serious incident" at a rail depot in Birmingham, their employer has confirmed.
West Midlands Trains confirmed the driver was killed by injuries sustained from the accident.
Emergency services were called to the maintenance depot in Tyseley, Birmingham at around 8.30pm on Saturday evening, where the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesman from West Midlands Trains said: “A serious incident happened at Tyseley maintenance depot around 8.30pm last night which unfortunately resulted in a fatality.
“The emergency services were in attendance and a full investigation is underway .
“No members of the public were involved.”
Friends and colleagues have paid tribute to the driver on social media.
"One of our best drivers, always a good laugh and always a gent," the post read.
"Gaffer, you're going to be missed by family, friends and colleagues. My condolences to all."
Their name has not yet been released and no members of the public were involved in the incident.
The train company also confirmed there was no disruption to scheduled services.
Details of the incident were not revealed while the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) investigates the driver's death.
