Supermarket recalls mini egg bites - because they contain egg
16 December 2019, 12:13
Supermarket Sainsbury's has recalled packs of their 18 Mini Egg bites as they contain egg, which is not included on the ingredients list.
The store issued the recall notice over the weekend stating the snacks have been recalled because they “contain egg and mustard which are not mentioned on the label."
A spokesperson said: "It has been brought to our attention that some packs of by Sainsbury’s 18 Mini Egg Bites have the incorrect back label which means that egg, mustard and pork are not declared on the ingredients list.
"As a precautionary measure, we are asking customers who have purchased this product from Sainsbury’s to return the product to their nearest Sainsbury’s where they will receive a full refund."
A spokesperson for the Food Standard Agency said: “Sainsbury's is recalling the above product from customers and has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.
“The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its stores.
“These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.”
The product could cause issues for people with allergies who are unaware of the content.
The recall only applies to products from batch 7563390.
