27 December 2019, 22:30
Culinary household names Ainsley Harriott, Nigel Slater and Nadiya Hussain have been recognised in the New Year Honours list.
Ready Steady Cook star Harriott, who has appeared on TV for over 25 years, has been made an MBE for services to broadcasting and to the culinary arts.
The 62-year-old's cook books have also made him a best-selling author, and he hosted Ready Steady Cook until the show finished in 2010.
He continues to appear on TV, including a spell on Strictly Come Dancing in 2015.
Hussain, who rose to fame by winning the 2015 series of The Great British Bake Off, has also been made an MBE.
The baking favourite also presented her own show, The Chronicles of Nadiya, in which she travelled to Bangladesh, her parents’ home country.
Chef and author Slater becomes an OBE for services to cookery and literature.
Mr Harriott, a mainstay of television cookery shows, said: "When I was first told about it, I immediately thought about my dear late mum - which really choked me up, because I know how proud she would have been.
"Her boy's proud too - it's a great honour for me and for everyone who has helped me on my way."
