MPs vote in favour of Boris Johnson's Queen's Speech
24 October 2019, 17:46
MPs have approved Boris Johnson's plan for government that was set out in the Queen's speech earlier this month.
A majority of 16 backed the Prime Minister's agenda in the House of Commons with 310 votes to 294.
The result does little to strengthen Mr Johnson's position in parliament though, where he lacks an overall majority and is unable to pass new laws without support.
The vote came just after The Prime Minister said he wants to hold a general election on the 12th of December.
He told reporters if MPs agree then he's prepared to let them have all the time they need, before that date, to scrutinise his Brexit deal.
The House of Commons will now vote on Monday on if it thinks we should go to the polls.
