Emmerdale star Asan N'Jie has been sacked from the soap after a fight with Hollyoaks actor Jamie Loman at the TV Choice Awards.
Actor Asan N'Jie has said that he is "devastated" to have lost his role in Emmerdale following a clash with a Hollyoaks actor at an awards ceremony.
Asan swore and threw punches at Jamie Lomas after the TV Choice Awards on Monday night.
It has also been claimed that he threatened to "knife" Mr Lomas during the altercation, and security had to pull them apart.
After the incident, an ITV spokeswoman said: "Emmerdale suspended Asan N'Jie pending further investigation into an incident at a central London hotel on Monday night."
ITV Executives said that they met with him this morning to discuss the fight and decided to terminate his contract as a result of his behaviour.
In a statement, Mr N'Jie said his behaviour was "out of character."
"My behaviour at the TV Choice Awards was completely unacceptable," the actor continued.
"I sincerely apologise to everybody who has been affected especially Jamie Lomas, the whole Emmerdale team, our audience, ITV, my family, and the organisers of the TV Choice Awards."
"I am devastated, accept full responsibility for my actions and I am determined to learn from this."
Asan was nominated as Best Soap Newcomer at the awards, but lost out to Eastenders actress Kara-Leah Fernandes.
Jamie wasn't nominated for an award.
