David Cameron issues Boris Johnson a warning on Brexit delay

David Cameron has issued a stark warning to Boris Johnson, the former Prime Minister said: "You can't disobey the law as prime minister."
Speaking about the Benn Act, which obliges Boris Johnson to seek a Brexit delay if he cannot get a deal, Mr Cameron urged the PM to obey the law.
The former Tory leader was speaking in front of an audience at the Barbican Centre in London at an event hosted by The Times newspaper.
Times editor John Witherow asked if there was a general election, would the Tories win with Jeremy Corbyn as the leader of the Labour Party.
Mr Cameron said he didn't know. Recalling the 2015 general election he said he was told he was "definitely going to lose" and ended up winning. But revealed the reverse was true for the Brexit referendum.
"I fought a referendum and I was told I was definitely going to win, and I lost."
The former Prime Minister said when it comes to general elections there is one question on politicians minds as key to getting votes, but he warned: "people may easily go and vote on any number of other questions."
Mr Cameron added he backed the current Prime Minister's attempts to secure a deal with Brussels and take it through the Commons.
He said: "The answer I suspect is now compromise on both sides.
"Boris is compromising and I suspect may have to move a bit more. And the EU should compromise too."
Mr Cameron said he regretted not fighting harder to demand caps on EU immigration, and said German Chancellor Angela Merkel always accused him of wanting "extra wurst" in his attempts to negotiate deals for Britain.
