Police attempting to trace a “dangerous” paranoid schizophrenic who is wanted after a 92-year-old was violently mugged have released new CCTV images.
The elderly woman was left with cracked ribs after she was dragged along the floor in a brutal attack in Hackney on Tuesday 27th June.
The man identified has been named as 28-year-old Sanchez Edwards - an absconder from a medium-secure mental health unit in Hackney.
The latest sighting of Edwards was yesterday [Thursday] at Bethnal Green Underground Station at about 7pm.
He was previously seen at the same Tube stop on Monday at 12:30pm wearing dark clothing as well as black and white trainers.
A £5,000 reward has now been offered by Crimestoppers.
The shocking mugging left the victim with awful injuries, including severe bruising to her legs and a cut head.
Det Insp Paul from Hackney CID described the 92-year-old’s injuries as “alarming and harrowing”.
He said: “I need to re-iterate my warning about Sanchez Edwards. He is a violent, dangerous and unpredictable individual. Please do not approach him, but call 999 if seen.
“The further time that elapses, the heightened risk he is to members of the public as he becomes increasingly desperate. He may commit offences to fuel his drug addiction.”
Edwards is described as a dark skinned black man, 5ft 9ins, with short black hair, medium build and a black beard.
Anyone with details of Sanchez Edwards whereabouts should contact Hackney CID via 101 or via Twitter @MetCC quoting operation name Brunton.
