29 November 2019, 06:53
A man has been charged after a teenager was stabbed to death during a fight outside a block of flats in east-London.
A man has been charged with murdering 19-year-old Mohammed Mirza, who died after being stabbed in east London, Scotland Yard said.
Police were called at 10.20pm on November 19 to Fullwell Avenue, Ilford, after reports of a fight outside a residential block.
Shariq Khan, 20, has been charged with murder and possession of a knife.
The death came just one day after Boris Johnson pledged to give police new powers to tackle the "scourge of knife crime."
Officers gave first aid to Mr Mirza, who was suffering stab injuries until London Ambulance Service paramedics arrived, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Khan is due to appear at Barkingside Magistrates' Court on Friday.
Two 19-year-old men who were arrested in connection with Mr Mirza's murder have since been released under investigation.
