Kentish Town: Woman rushed to hospital after 'substance' thrown in face

A woman has been rushed to hospital after a 'substance' was thrown in her face in an attack in a street in north London.
Emergency services were called to the scene close to the branch of Boots on Kentish Town Road as they responded to the incident early on Thursday morning.
The woman, in her 30s, was initially treated by the London Fire Brigade before paramedics arrived. Police believe she was not targeted with acid but they are working to establish what was thrown at her. Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening, police said.
A Metropolitan police spokesman said: "Police were called at 0650hrs on Thursday, 5 December to reports of an injured woman at Kentish Town Road, NW5.
"Officers. London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service attended. At the scene, a woman, aged 30's, had suffered injuries after a substance was thrown at her.
"The victim’s skin was doused with water at the scene.The injured woman was taken to a central London hospital. We await an update on her condition, however her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
"The substance is not believed to have been acid - we await confirmation." No arrests have been made.
A woman working in the Owl Bookshop near the incident told LBC News that a customer said she watched a woman "collapse on the floor".
A spokesman for the London Fire Brigade said they were called at 6.52am and sent two fire engines.
Firefighters initially treated the patient until paramedics from London Ambulance Service arrived.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 6:52am this morning to reports of an incident on Kentish Town Road, Camden.
"We dispatched an ambulance crew, an incident response officer and our hazardous area response team (HART) to the scene.
"We treated a woman at the scene and took her to hospital."
Emergency services left the scene and the road was reopened at around 9.30am.
