Shocking CCTV footage of a man being knocked unconscious by a stranger in a ‘calculated and cold-blooded’ attack has been released by police.
The footage which was shown to Newport Crown Court shows victim Dale Bessant, 23, standing outside a takeaway in Bridgend town centre when Adam Manns, 33, came rushing across the road and punched him in the face.
The shocking CCTV then shows Manns stamping on the defenceless victim's head as he lay sprawled in the road.
The court heard Mr Bessant woke up from the attack in an ambulance and unable to remember why he was there or what had happened.
Prosecutor Timothy Evans told the court the attacker had had repeatedly lowed the peak of Mr Bessant’s hat, causing him to strike him in the face in retaliation.
Manns then went looking for Mr Bessant, before launching his violent attack during the early hours of October 20.
During sentencing, Judge Richard Williams described his behaviour as "calculated if not cold-blooded."
He continued: "You stamped forcefully on his head. That action was intended to cause serious injury."
Manns was sentenced to four years and eight months in prison after pleading guilty to a charge of causing grievous bodily harm with intent at an earlier hearing.
